Job Description
- The role of Industrial Performance Manager is to support the business and plants, drive performance improvement through performance analysis, proposing and challenging industrial targets and monitoring the implementation of action plans, while supporting plant Managers with the implementation of industrial framework and other initiatives.
- The primary focus of the job holder is the performance improvement of plants across the country.
What you'll be doing
Health & Safety and Environment:
- Be H&S compliant; act as a role model in plants, be safety conscious and proactive contributing to shaping a group safety culture. Actively participate in training and engage people in safety discussions.
- Ensure that health and safety directives and policies are taken into consideration and respected during the implementation of Global Initiatives and carry out safety observations, risk assessments, and audits.
- Create safe work conditions and mobilize all plant employees and on-site contractors on safety at work behaviors and skills.
- Strictly apply Group Security rules and proactively report any observations and/or incidents.
Strategic / Performance Management:
- Strategy and Policy Development: develop and implement departmental plans and performance management.
- Set up the overall strategic goals, objectives, budget, and oversee the execution of business processes within the department Industrial
- Manage the day-to-day strategic guidance, direction and leadership of staff while ensuring legal, regulatory and statutory requirements are adhered to.
- Conduct all necessary assessments and benchmarks within the framework of Huaxin
- Formulate the vision and set the priorities for the four Nigerian plants with the Industrial Head.
Performance Management:
- Define the Plant Performance Improvement Plan PDP, MTP alongside with the Plant Managers and ensure is validated by the COO.
- Manage own time and resources, structure and execute assignments in due time, as well as in good quality; understand and anticipate business needs ensuring effectiveness and the bottom- line impact of proposed solutions;
- Deploy and provide expertise in the areas of performance analysis, identification of opportunities, target setting, definition of action plans and implementation of Global initiatives in the plants.
Performance Analysis and Industrial Target Setting:
- Identify performance opportunities in collaboration with the Local Nigeria Manufacturing support team;
- Monitor and challenge plants' performance along the business cycle from the target definition to the monitoring of rolling forecasts;
- In collaboration with the business aspiration and Strategy group, define and cascade targets to plants; discuss targets with the plants to agree on them.
- Ensure that the group targets are properly reflected in the plants' mid-term development plans, considering performance and sustainability.
Action Planning and Support to Execution:
- Participate in the validation of the operational and capital investments budget, as well as the mid and long term plans of the plants;
- Support and challenge plants in the definition of robust action plans that will ensure targets are met adequacy of actions and resources;
- Support plants with the implementation of their actions, acting as advisors and seeking for external support if required.
- Track advancement of action plans and effective delivery of expected results from actions.
Global Initiatives Management:
- Inform corporate regarding opportunities for performance improvement missions in terms of topic e.g. energy or pilot plant;
- Identify, promote, and country initiatives in accordance with Global initiatives;
- Support the Global Initiative group to implement actions in the plants, take ownership of the project, ensure local commitments, follow-up and reporting;
- Cooperate with experts to provide the required know-how to support roll out.
Implementation of Process Tools and Systems:
- Ensure local understanding of relevant indicators for performance and cost analysis;
- Use and maintain process and tools supporting global initiatives e.g. benefit calculation tool, audit methodology, etc.
- Roll out the implementation of new tools, train the target audience, and monitor progress
- Implement and use Group tools, procedures and new technologies by providing required expertise for the development
- Operations Management: Improve operational system processes and best practices within the company to guarantee the company’s well-being and ensuring the smooth running of the day-to-day business
- Lead the Executive S&OP for the Industrial function.
Knowledge, competences, networks:
- Support and challenge plants in his/her perimeter in assessing plant competencies and defining improvement actions
- Facilitate training modules, support development of expertise in Plants and Countries.

Budget & Cost Control:
- Proactively translate Group and local business strategy into plant actions and align planning & activities to account for strategy and business change
- Prepare the annual plant production budgets in consultation with the Sales & Marketing team, and ensure the constant follow up along the year
- Develop, track and control all the plants budget, rolling forecast - developing corrective measures for negative variances and ensuring closure of actions by team members
- Ensure the highest performance of the plant in terms of reliability, availability and utilization, and identify cost-saving opportunities to drive lower production costs
- Ensure continuous improvement to meet the yearly Industrial plants targets together with each plant team meeting the short, mid and long-term development
- Optimize contracting strategy at Corporate level together with the Plant team, Finance and Procurement teams
- Financial management: handle budget controls and analysis of month-end manufacturing financial reports and reviews monthly business performance report with the Business
- Unit Finance Team CFO, Performance Analysis & Controlling.
Investments & Initiatives:
- Support the Project team to manage investment projects within given budgets, time and scope in every respect as well as the use of standard process, tools, Group priorities, etc.
- Propose and support the implementation of capital expenditure projects that drive productivity
- Support the business on special projects with a focus on the development and launch of new products while working closely with the commercial team.
Governance:
- Communicate and implement regulations, company goals, local permits, policies and procedures; ensure up-to-date technical documentation; optimize the internal processes and structures
- Supervise personnel to apply them consistently and ensure compliance for related activities.
Requirements
- Minimum of 10 years Manufacturing operations experience including 5 years in line management positions and preferably Production/Process department.
- Demonstrated performance in working within cross-functional teams, with requisite drive and energy to ensure that a challenging benefits and capability building agenda is successfully delivered
- Management of cross functional projects.
