Job Summary

  • The Production Technologist will provide production technology support throughout the lifecycle of OML 30 wells and fields. The role will support field development, well completion, intervention, workover, production surveillance and optimisation, while contributing to production reconciliation, allocation and regulatory reporting activities.

Job Details

Reporting to the GM, Technical, the Production Technologist will be responsible for:

  • Contribute to field development planning, including drilling, completion design, sand control, workover, plug and abandonment, decommissioning and restoration activities.
  • Work within an integrated technical team to mature short-term oil and gas production opportunities while maintaining well safety and integrity.
  • Conduct well and reservoir surveillance to support production management and optimisation.
  • Support well completion, intervention and workover planning and execution.
  • Develop, review and execute well and reservoir surveillance proposals.
  • Interpret production and surveillance data and recommend appropriate production-optimisation activities.
  • Monitor well performance and ensure production remains within the approved operating envelope.
  • Analyse production data and recommend cost-effective solutions to reduce non-productive time and increase production.
  • Support intervention and infill-well drilling activities aimed at reducing natural production decline.
  • Collaborate with the Operator to ensure compliance with statutory operational and data-acquisition requirements, including MER, BHP and RST activities.
  • Supervise and monitor statutory tests, including monthly well tests, wellhead sampling and MER exercises.
  • Apply appropriate production technologies to well completion, intervention and workover activities.
  • Support month-end production reconciliation, fiscalisation and allocation processes.
  • Contribute towards achieving an equitable production-allocation outcome and favourable reconciliation factor for OML 30.
  • Monitor key production parameters, including basic sediment and water, sand content and gas–oil ratio, to ensure they remain within statutory limits.
  • Review and submit monthly production and gas-utilisation information to the regulator.
  • Provide required technical data and support engagements with regulatory and industry bodies, including NUPRC, NEITI, IPPG and OPTS.
  • Support the preparation of annual work programmes and budgets.
  • Provide technical input into full-year performance reviews and other governance processes.
  • Support the maturation and implementation of Field Development Plans.
  • Provide technical support for water-disposal and gas-growth projects.
  • Support the Operator in achieving the lifting of forecast fiscalised volumes.
  • Support annual reserves-evaluation activities.
  • Identify and recommend relevant emerging production technologies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Engineering degree with a minimum of Second-Class Lower Honours.
  • A master’s degree in Engineering will be an advantage.
  • Relevant engineering background in Petroleum, Gas or Chemical Engineering.
  • At least 10 years’ relevant oil and gas industry experience.
  • IWCF Well Intervention certification.
  • Relevant professional membership or registration, such as NSE, COREN, P.Eng. or SPE.
  • Strong knowledge of well-completion design, workover and intervention planning, and reservoir management.
  • Expertise in production-optimisation tools, including nodal analysis, well-modelling applications and multiphase-flow simulation.
  • Ability to analyse production data and recommend cost-effective solutions to minimise non-productive time and increase production.
  • Strong knowledge of sand-control systems and their deployment, including internal gravel packs, standalone screens and sand consolidation.
  • Practical experience with artificial-lift systems, including gas lift and electrical submersible pumps.
  • Good knowledge of matrix stimulation and other downhole-remediation processes.
  • Experience in downhole data acquisition and interpretation, including pressure, temperature and PVT data.
  • Knowledge of production surveillance, reconciliation, allocation and regulatory reporting.
  • Ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary and cross-functional teams.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication and technical-reporting skills.
  • Ability to deliver projects safely and within agreed timelines.
