Job Overview
- The Claims Executive will deliver excellent customer service, analyse claims and underwriting policy documents, and determine the extent of the Company's liability.
Key Responsibilities
- Register notifications of claims in the software, open claim files and allocate claim numbers.
- Verify policy status.
- Acknowledge claim notifications and request supporting claims documentation from claimants or brokers for review.
- Schedule appointments with claimants or brokers to arrange post-loss inspections.
- Assist field staff with investigations to ascertain the validity of reported claims.
- Interpret policy wording, analyse and adjust claims to determine the extent of the Company's liability, and make recommendations to the Team Lead.
- Communicate offers within 24 hours after all relevant approvals have been obtained.
- Follow up and collect relevant title documents, recoveries and salvaged items from negligent third parties or insureds to reduce claims outlay before payment.
- Prepare claim requisitions and vouchers for payments to claimants, co-insurers, solicitors and other professionals.
- Review loss adjusters' reports, send copies to co-insurers and collate their opinions where applicable.
- Prepare reports on paid and outstanding claims weekly, monthly and quarterly.
- Process service agents' fees for payment.
- Compute outstanding losses for the Reinsurance Unit.
- Prepare weekly, monthly and quarterly claims reports and returns.
Requirements
- First degree in any discipline.
- CIIN certification is an added advantage.
- 3–5 years of progressive work experience as an Insurance Claims Executive.
