The Warehouse Supervisor is responsible for supervising day-to-day warehouse operations at Kano Warehouse. The role supervises receiving, storage and dispatch, coordinates the Warehouse Officer, ensures proper stacking, lot segregation and space utilisation, maintains movement and dispatch records, liaises with Quality and Inventory, and reports shortages, damages and irregularities in the Warehouse.

Job Details

Receiving, Storage and Dispatch Supervision

  • Supervise the day-to-day receiving, storage and dispatch of sesame and related commodities at the Kano warehouse, ensuring adherence to approved procedures.
  • Ensure receiving and dispatch activities are completed accurately and within required timelines.

Warehouse Officer Coordination

  • Coordinate and direct the day-to-day activities of the Warehouse Officer, allocating tasks and ensuring adequate coverage of warehouse operations.
  • Provide guidance and on-the-job support to the Warehouse Officer to maintain operating standards.

Stacking, Lot Segregation and Space Utilisation

  • Ensure proper stacking, lot segregation and identification of commodity within the warehouse, in line with approved layout and quality requirements.
  • Optimise warehouse space utilisation to accommodate incoming volumes while maintaining safe & orderly storage.

Movement and Dispatch Records Maintenance

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of stock movements, receipts and dispatches at the Kano warehouse.
  • Ensure records are properly filed, retrievable and support traceability and inventory reconciliation.

Liaison with Quality and Inventory

  • Liaise with the Quality Control team on lot inspection, hold and release status affecting warehouse operations.
  • Liaise with the Inventory function to reconcile stock records and support periodic stock counts/verification.

Shortage, Damage and Irregularity Reporting

  • Identify and promptly report shortages, damages and irregularities observed in warehouse stock or operations to the Warehouse Manager.
  • Support investigation of reported issues and implementation of corrective actions.

Requirements

  • B.Sc./HND in Business Administration, Logistics/Supply Chain Management, Agribusiness, or a related field. Relevant certification in warehouse/inventory management is an advantage.
  • Familiarity with warehouse management systems or manual stock record-keeping practices is desirable.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years' experience in warehouse/store operations, including some supervisory experience, preferably within the agro-commodity, food processing or FMCG sector.
