Senior Civil Structural Engineer

Role Description

• The Senior Civil Structural Engineer is a full-time, on-site role based in Lagos, responsible for leading civil and structural engineering design and analysis for energy-related projects. This role includes developing and reviewing structural designs and calculations, preparing engineering drawings and specifications, and ensuring compliance with relevant codes, standards, and safety regulations.
• The engineer will coordinate with multidisciplinary project teams, provide technical guidance to junior engineers, and support project planning, scheduling, and resource allocation.
• Daily activities involve site visits, structural assessments, and resolving engineering issues during construction to maintain quality, safety, and cost-effectiveness.
• The role also requires close collaboration with clients and partners, contributing to proposals, technical reports, and project documentation.

Qualifications

• Strong foundational knowledge in Civil Engineering and Structural Engineering, with demonstrated experience in the energy or infrastructure sector.
• Proficiency in Civil Engineering Design, including preparation of drawings, specifications, and design documentation using industry-standard tools.
• Advanced skills in Structural Analysis, including modeling, load evaluation, and performance assessment of structures under various conditions.
• Experience in Project Management, including planning, coordination, budgeting, risk management, and stakeholder communication.
• Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering Master’s degree is an advantage, with relevant professional registration e.g., COREN or equivalent.
• Familiarity with international and local engineering codes, standards, and HSE requirements applicable to civil and structural works.
• Proven ability to lead teams, mentor less experienced engineers, and work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary environment.
• Excellent analytical, communication, and report-writing skills, and proficiency with engineering design and analysis software.

Experience

• A minimum of seven years of relevant civil and structural engineering experience in the oil and gas sector, including technical supervision and project delivery.
• Demonstrated experience in FEED, detailed engineering and construction support for oil and gas facilities, including steelwork and equipment foundations.
• Experience with greenfield developments or brownfield modifications to production, processing, storage or export facilities.
