Job Purpose

  • The Product Manager – MVA Kits & PAC owns the end-to-end commercial and clinical-adoption performance of the MVA (Manual Vacuum Aspiration) Kits product line. This role sits at the intersection of product management, provider capacity building, and institutional sales — responsible for growing demand and usage of MVA Kits by ensuring health care providers are competently trained in Post Abortion Care, and by converting that clinical competence into consistent institutional sales leads and revenue across NGOs, teaching hospitals, public sector facilities, and other institutional buyers.

Key Responsibilities

Product Management & Strategy

  • Own the MVA Kits product P&L: volume, revenue, and market share targets.
  • Develop and execute an annual product plan (positioning, pricing, packaging, distribution channels) aligned to the organization\'s broader PAC and LARC strategy.
  • Monitor competitor MVA/PAC products, pricing, and market activity; recommend responsive strategies.
  • Coordinate with Regulatory & Pharmacovigilance on product registration, labelling, and compliance requirements.
  • Track and report product performance (sales, training-to-sales conversion, stock/availability) monthly.

Health Care Provider Capacity Building

  • Design and standardize PAC/MVA training curricula for health care providers (doctors, nurses, midwives, CHEWs) in line with recognized clinical standards (e.g., WHO, national PAC guidelines).
  • Plan and deliver (directly or via clinical trainers) onsite and, where feasible, online training sessions to build provider competence and confidence in MVA procedures.
  • Maintain a provider database segmented by training status, facility type, and usage/adoption stage.
  • Work with the Training Academy initiative to integrate PAC/MVA modules into the broader provider training pipeline.
  • Establish and track certification/competency benchmarks for trained providers.

Institutional Sales & Lead Generation

  • Identify, prospect, and generate qualified sales leads for MVA Kits among NGOs, teaching hospitals, public sector health facilities/ministries, and other institutional buyers.
  • Build and manage a pipeline (CRM or tracking tool) from lead identification through to closed institutional orders and repeat purchase.
  • Develop and deliver product presentations/proposals to institutional decision-makers (procurement units, clinical heads, NGO program leads).
  • Negotiate and manage institutional supply agreements/contracts in coordination with relevant approvers.
  • Represent the organization at relevant conferences, stakeholder forums, and public-sector engagement platforms to build the institutional pipeline.

Cross-functional Collaboration

  • Partner with Clinical Services & Training colleagues to align provider training delivery with sales/adoption goals.
  • Work with Marketing/Comms (where applicable) on provider-facing and institutional collateral (brand education material, detailing aids, product videos).
  • Coordinate with Regulatory on NAFDAC and institutional compliance requirements for MVA Kits.
  • Provide input into demand forecasting and supply planning to avoid stock-outs at trained facilities.

Reporting & Continuous Improvement

  • Track and report on: number of providers trained, number of facilities activated, leads generated, conversion rate, revenue against target.
  • Conduct periodic facility/provider follow-up to ensure trained providers are actively using MVA Kits (utilization audits).
  • Use field and sales data to refine targeting of training and institutional outreach.

Key Performance Indicators

  • Revenue / volume of MVA Kits sold against target
  • Number of health care providers trained and certified in PAC / MVA
  • Number of institutional leads generated and converted to sales
  • Institutional customer retention / repeat order rate
  • Number of new institutional accounts (NGOs, teaching hospitals, public sector) onboarded
  • Training-to-utilization conversion rate (trained providers actively using product)

Person Specification

Qualifications

  • Bachelor\'s degree in a health / life sciences, pharmacy, nursing, public health, business, or related field.
  • Clinical background or strong working knowledge of reproductive health / PAC is a strong advantage; a pure commercial candidate paired with clinical support staff can also be considered.

Experience

  • Minimum 4–6 years\' experience in product management, medical / pharmaceutical sales, or institutional / public health sales.
  • Demonstrated experience selling into or partnering with NGOs, hospitals, teaching hospitals, and/or public sector / government health institutions.
  • Experience in medical devices, reproductive health, family planning, or PAC commodities is highly desirable.
  • Track record of designing or coordinating training / capacity-building programs is a plus.

Technical Skills & Competencies

  • Strong commercial acumen and lead-generation / sales pipeline management skills.
  • Ability to engage credibly with clinical audiences (providers) and institutional decision-makers (procurement, NGO program leads).
  • Project management: able to run concurrent training and sales-pipeline workstreams.
  • Strong presentation, negotiation, and relationship-management skills.
  • Data-driven: comfortable tracking KPIs, building reports, using CRM / Excel.
  • Familiarity with regulatory processes for medical devices / commodities is an advantage.
  • Willingness to travel extensively across states / regions.

Soft Skills, Personality & Attitude

Interpersonal & Communication

  • Natural relationship-builder — equally comfortable in a rural clinic training room and a boardroom with an NGO country director or hospital procurement officer.
  • Persuasive but not pushy; able to influence clinical staff to adopt new practice and institutional buyers to commit budget, without being seen as “just a salesperson.”
  • Active listener — picks up on institutional politics, provider hesitations, and unspoken objections, and adapts the pitch or training approach accordingly.
  • Comfortable presenting to mixed audiences (clinicians, procurement officers, government officials) and adjusting register / technical depth for each.

Personal Drive & Attitude

  • Self-starter with strong ownership mentality — treats the MVA Kits line like their own business, not just a set of assigned tasks.
  • Resilient and resourceful; institutional and public-sector sales cycles are often slow and bureaucratic, so persistence without frustration or burnout is essential.
  • Comfortable with ambiguity and willing to build process where none exists (this is a newly defined, dual-mandate role).
  • Genuine commitment to reproductive health and PAC outcomes — motivated by impact, not purely by commission / targets. This authenticity comes through in provider and institutional relationships.
  • High integrity, especially given the sensitivity of PAC / abortion-adjacent work in Nigeria\'s regulatory and cultural context — discreet, professional, and calm under scrutiny.

Working Style

  • Highly organized; juggles training calendars, institutional pipelines, and reporting cadences without dropping balls.
  • Collaborative — works well with other team members and departments without needing everything to sit in their own lane.
  • Coachable and curious — stays current on PAC clinical guidelines and evolving institutional / procurement landscape (policy shifts, NGO funding cycles, government tenders).
  • Field-ready: not precious about travel, time in clinics, or hands-on training delivery.

Cultural / Contextual Fit

  • Sensitivity and tact in navigating conversations around abortion, PAC, and reproductive rights across diverse institutional stakeholders (public sector, faith-affiliated hospitals, NGOs) with differing levels of openness to the topic.
  • Ability to represent the organization professionally in politically or socially sensitive settings.
