Job Description
- We are seeking a results-driven Process Engineer to support the achievement of plant production and quality objectives.
- The role focuses on implementing effective systems, tools, and procedures to enhance operational efficiency, improve processes, elevate product quality, and reduce costs.
- The successful candidate will lead continuous performance optimization initiatives, contributing to key projects and problem-solving efforts while collaborating with experienced engineering professionals.
What you'll be doing
- Continuously analyze equipment/system performance e.g. specific electrical and thermal energy consumption, refractory consumption, etc. and propose solutions to achieve budget.
- Implement tools and procedures for continuous process improvements.
- Promote the increased use of AFR Alternative Fuels and Raw Materials, provide comprehensive technical expertise to evaluate AFR with respect to their impact on the process, develop and implement solutions to eliminate/reduce the impact of AFR on the process operation.
- Cooperate at design of new systems/equipment and modifications of existing systems/equipment. Conduct economic and operational feasibility studies on proposed modifications and/or additions. Commission and de-bottleneck new installations.
- Ensure the safety of processes and ensure environmental and OH&S compliance.
- Develop standard operating procedures and targets. Supervise operation personnel to apply them consistently.
- Responsible for all planning processes within his area BP, PMP, FP, budget, etc.
- Monitor the performance and optimize the operation of Expert Optimizer – if installed.
- Carry out bench marking studies. Make conclusions and recommendations.
- Train and coach operation personnel to develop comprehensive process knowledge throughout the plant.
- Communicate activities within the plant and within HBM through regular, high quality verbal and written communications.
- Perform the required work within a well-defined work plan.
- Sequential intervention.
- Prepare reports on the work undertaken in a clear and concise manner.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent in any engineering discipline Chemical, Mechanical or Electrical engineering
- 3 to 5 years’ experience
- Good knowledge of statistical process control methods and experimental design.
- Good knowledge of project management methods.
- Ability to perform the measurements of a basic process: gas flow / temperature / gas analysis /
- Organize and perform an audit to any one area of a plant: Equipment/gas / thermal/ material balance of a kiln or a mill based on a pre-established model.
- knowledge of traditional process control tools: Calculation of raw feed, QMC.
- Ability to tone a control loop, establish a correctogram.
- Understand the strategy of an expert system.
