Job Description
- St. Dominic Catholic Hospital is seeking a competent, detail-oriented, and dedicated Medical Laboratory Technician to support the laboratory team in carrying out diagnostic tests and ensuring accurate laboratory results for effective patient care.
- The successful candidate will assist in specimen collection, laboratory testing, equipment maintenance, and adherence to safety and quality standards within the laboratory unit.
Key Responsibilities
- Collect, label, and process patient specimens appropriately.
- Perform routine laboratory tests under supervision and according to standard operating procedures.
- Assist in hematology, microbiology, parasitology, chemistry, and serology investigations.
- Prepare reagents, stains, and laboratory materials for testing procedures.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the laboratory environment.
- Ensure proper handling and disposal of laboratory waste according to safety guidelines.
- Operate and maintain laboratory equipment appropriately.
- Record and document laboratory results accurately.
- Adhere strictly to infection prevention, biosafety, and quality control standards.
- Assist in inventory management and monitoring of laboratory supplies.
- Collaborate effectively with laboratory scientists and other healthcare professionals.
Education & Professional Requirements
- Diploma/Certificate in Medical Laboratory Technology or related fields
- Valid professional certification/licensing where applicable.
Experience:
- Minimum of 1 year laboratory experience is an added advantage
- Experience in a hospital or diagnostic laboratory setting is preferred
