Job Summary

  • The Company Driver is responsible for providing safe, reliable, timely, and professional transportation services for company executives, employees, clients, documents, materials, and other authorised company-related assignments. The role is also responsible for the proper use, cleanliness, routine inspection, and basic maintenance of assigned company vehicles.

Job Responsibilities

  1. Safely transport authorised staff, management, clients, visitors, documents, and materials as assigned.
  2. Drive company vehicles responsibly and in accordance with applicable traffic laws and regulations.
  3. Observe speed limits, road signs, traffic rules, and safe-driving practices at all times.
  4. Ensure passengers are transported safely and arrive at their destinations on time.
  5. Plan routes in advance and consider traffic conditions and alternative routes.
  6. Remain available for official transportation assignments as required.

Vehicle Maintenance & Care:

  1. Conduct daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections of assigned vehicles.
  2. Check tyres, engine oil, coolant, brake fluid, lights, battery, brakes, and other essential vehicle components.
  3. Keep the vehicle clean, presentable, and in good operating condition.
  4. Report mechanical faults, unusual noises, warning lights, or defects immediately.
  5. Ensure vehicles are serviced and maintained according to approved schedules.
  6. Monitor fuel levels and report fuel requirements promptly.
  7. Ensure all vehicle documents, licences, insurance, and permits are valid and available.

Safety & Compliance:

  1. Maintain a high standard of road safety at all times.
  2. Ensure all passengers use seat belts where applicable.
  3. Do not operate a vehicle under the influence of alcohol, drugs, or any substance that may impair driving ability.
  4. Do not use mobile phones while driving except through legally permitted hands-free means.
  5. Report accidents, traffic incidents, vehicle damage, or other safety concerns immediately.
  6. Comply with company vehicle policies and procedures.

Administrative & Official Assignments:

  1. Deliver and collect company documents, parcels, materials, and other authorised items.
  2. Support administrative activities requiring transportation.
  3. Assist with airport, hotel, client, vendor, and official visits when assigned.
  4. Maintain confidentiality of information encountered while performing official duties.
  5. Obtain appropriate acknowledgement for delivered documents or materials where required.

Vehicle Records & Reporting:

  1. Maintain accurate daily vehicle movement/logbook records.
  2. Record mileage, fuel consumption, destinations, and official trips as required.
  3. Report vehicle maintenance requirements and service history.
  4. Submit reports on accidents, traffic violations, repairs, or unusual incidents.
  5. Ensure proper documentation of vehicle-related expenses and activities.

Professional Conduct:

  1. Maintain a professional, courteous, and respectful attitude towards employees, management, clients, and other stakeholders.
  2. Maintain appropriate personal appearance and comply with the company’s dress code.
  3. Exercise discretion and confidentiality when transporting executives, clients, and company information.
  4. Avoid unauthorised use of company vehicles.
  5. Demonstrate punctuality, reliability, integrity, and accountability.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

  1. Zero avoidable accidents and traffic violations.
  2. Timely arrival for assigned transportation duties.
  3. Proper maintenance and cleanliness of assigned vehicle.
  4. Compliance with vehicle inspection and servicing schedules.
  5. Accurate and timely completion of vehicle logbooks.
  6. Efficient fuel consumption and responsible use of company resources.
  7. Prompt reporting of vehicle faults and incidents.
  8. Compliance with company policies and road safety regulations.
  9. Professional conduct and customer/staff satisfaction.
  10. Zero unauthorised use of company vehicles.

Job Qualifications 

  1. Minimum of SSCE/WAEC/NECO or equivalent qualification.
  2. Valid Nigerian driver’s licence appropriate for the assigned vehicle.
  3. Minimum of 3 years’ professional driving experience, preferably in a corporate environment.
  4. Proven knowledge of major routes and locations within the area of operation.
  5. Basic knowledge of vehicle maintenance and troubleshooting.
  6. Experience driving executive or company vehicles is an added advantage.
  7. Defensive driving training/certification is an added advantage.
